Leading industry experts across the broadcast, live events and IT Networking will converge to talk about the landscape of the respective industries, the current challenges and where they think the future is headed.

Business is harder than ever with dynamic changes across all industries and sectors. Media consumption is changing and producers need to adapt. How things are paid for and whats acceptable to pay for are concepts that are being challenged. Cost of living crisis affects entertainement spend and this inturn affects events and media consumption. Where is the sustainability of business in all this change? Is technology helping with ROI or is the pace of change too fast for re-investement to actually pay dividends?

All these points and more will be discussed over two exciting panel discussions!

Representatives from Panasonic, Reidel, Ross, Lawo and Innovative will be joining the panel, along with special guests.

HOST

Panel 1: What is the state of play?

This is a ‘state of the industries’ discussion about the broadcast industry and its surrounding industries, such as live events, media, television, music, press, etc.

More for less. It’s a common theme across the board in almost every industry. Of course everyone wants more for less, more content and higher quality for less money, right? But when and where does it stop? How is this sustainable? We can’t work for free so the money has to come from somewhere.

It is getting harder and harder for content creators to sell their productions to the big networks. This, in turn, is slowing down and in some case stopping productions. The influence of Netflix produced productions, in both Australia and NZ is creating jobs for local resources and paying a higher rate. At first this might seem like a good thing, however this is making it harder for local based production companies to compete and keep contractors on set.

PANELISTS

Panel 2: Should we just plug in now???

The rate of change in technology is rapid and relentless. However, often it’s not driven by what consumers want or ‘think’ they need, but rather by industries and manufacturers. Keeping up is tough and getting ROI is tougher! Really only now are we seeing end to end 4K transmissions! Most broadcasts however are either upscaled to 4K or FHD. How is all this tech making life better, easier and faster….and allowing us to make more money? Or is it costing us? And is the cost just financial?
