Innovative have provided full technical production to TEDxSydney since 2014 at Sydney Opera House.

About the event:

TED events are a platform to deliver ‘ideas worth spreading’. TEDxSydney is an independently organised TED event that is the largest of its kind in the world and is regarded at the gold standard. This year saw 18 speakers and 7 performances take the stage for a jammed packed day which was also live streamed for the full 8 hours.

Apart from the main theatre, the guests were fed, watered, and entertained in 2 of the exhibition halls covering a enormous area of 100m x 100m. This area was meticulously curated by event partners INVNT who managed hundreds of suppliers, activations, food and coffee stations, live stages, and sponsors areas.

Key highlights:

A big part of attending a TEDxSydney event is connecting. Connecting with people and connecting with the speakers. In a theatre packed full of 5000 eager attendees, our job is to help connect the speakers on stage to the audience right to the last row. We developed a new screen system that allowed us to build a 5 facetted seamless and borderless screen that wrapped around the stage spanning a whopping 48m and towering 6m high. Combined with a 14 camera live broadcast of the event by NEP, we could capture amazing live visuals of the talks and performances and convey the emotion on the faces on the speakers right to the back rows. The screens wrapping around the audience also engulfed your peripheral vision which really immersed the audience in the content.

The pressure is certainly on for the innovative team to flawlessly produce an event so technical in scale and complexity which is beamed live around the world.
